Tartan Georgia was designed to honor Georgia's Semiquincentenary (250th anniversary) celebration.  The pattern and colors reflect the state's strong Scottish ties using General Oglethorpe's preferred Black Watch tartan with MacIntosh red for Captain John MacIntosh.
